Yuppie Journals: World Domination starts
Last Friday, the Triumvirate of Evil (Rica, the Overlord and me) met for the first time in two years. We were supposed to meet earlier than that for our annual Evil Cooking Special, but the best laid plans usually are the most susceptible to failure. So anyway, we finally met and discussed a new world domination campaign the Overlord has planned for us; the first phase of which will start tomorrow.
No, no. We’re not about to start looking for The Omen or anything. We’re just going to start our plan to be independent, that means we’ll be our own boss and we won’t be required to wear monkey suits and commute to an office where a specially created cage… er, cube is waiting for us. I guess everybody has plans to escape from the clutches of corpo slavery, but only a few actually try to get out of it. Corpo may be more than a little oppressive and claustrophobia-inducing, but it provides a steady salary and regular assurance that you’ll have money with which to buy your food every 15th and 30th of the month. Leaping out of corpo is risky business without Tom Cruise dancing in his socks and underwear, we know that, and I think the fact that we’re single and ex-middle management employees played a part in this daring plan.
Also, no, we’re not trying out a “get rich quick” scheme or anything of the sort, and if you’re planning to quit corpo to plunge face first into one of the aforementioned schemes, please make sure that you understand what you’re getting into and have at least 4 back up plans. Speaking of which, the Overlord has 3 back up plans lined up – and a back up to the back ups in case we get gripped with sudden inexplicable cases of the lazies or the ever present burn out. As a first step off the cliff of self-management, we have decided to start journals for this project, sharing some thoughts, successes as well as failures, and maybe even our daily regiments. Anybody who works from home will need a set of rules (flexible enough to avoid the closeness of corpo but strict enough to enforce self-discipline) and maybe we’ll share those too.
So if you’re interested, watch this space.
